Abstract
INTRODUCTION: Midwives and stretcher bearers in the practice of their profession would be exposed to musculoskeletal disorders. Our study participates in the identification of risk factors and knowledge of ergonomic measures by these health professionals
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the risks of musculoskeletal disorders in the socio-professional life of midwives and stretcher bearers.
MATERIAL AND METHOD: This is a cross-sectional study of midwives and stretcher bearers from April 23 to June 23, 2018.
RESULTS: Our study population is made up of 79 professionals including 40 midwives or 50.6% and 39 stretcher-bearers (male and female), ie 49.36%, with a sex ratio H / F of 0.46. Depending on the number of years of professional experience, the class of [0-15 [is predominantly young, ie 74.7%. The lumbar area is 100%, 91.1% of the shoulder, 63.3% of the knee and 43.0% of the neck. 88.6% relate their problem to MSDs. 69.6% of our population has no information on MSDs and stretcher bearers, which is 94.9%. Only five individuals in the study changed posture, or 6.32%.
CONCLUSION: Low back pain, tendonitis, bursitis, cervicalgia and epicondylitis are common pathologies in TMS. Working conditions, lack of knowledge and lack of primary prevention are the risk factors for MSDs. Midwives and Stretcher-bearers are exposed to MSDs, hence the importance of a necessary prevention policy in the workplace.
